The Skis claim the 2006 Region title with a 7-2 win over the Pierz Brewers.

The Skis took the lead right away in the first inning when Joe Thoma hit a sacrifice fly to right scoring Nate Olson with the game's first run. They then made the lead 2-0 in the 3rd inning when first baseman Jon Czech blasted a homer to right field. The Brewers tied the game in the top of the sixth, but the Skis bounced back to regain the lead in the bottom half when right fielder Beau Hanowski singled home Randall draftee Jason King with the go ahead and eventual winning run.

The game was broke open in the bottom of the eighth when lead off hitter Nate Olson singled to start the rally. His base hit was followed by singles from both Jon Czech and Jason King, loading the bases.  Then, with one out, Beau Hanowski drew a bases loaded walk to plate the Skis fourth run of the game.  Third baseman Brad Czech then cracked a bases clearing double to left center to push the lead lead to 7-2, the eventual final. 

Simon Waltman again threw well for the Skis, going seven innings and striking out seven while allowing only one Brewer hit.  He took a no-hit bid into the sixth, but it was broken up with a lead off single. Nate Olson worked
two scoreless inning, striking out four and allowing only one hit to record his third save of the tourney.  Waltman improved his record to 3-0 on the mound in the tourney en route to the Region 8C tournament MVP.

The Skis clinch a state berth with a win over the Pierz Brewers in the Region 8C Tournament.  The Skis struck first in the contest with a run in the second inning. A one out single by right fielder Beau Hanowski was followed by a double to the left center gap by third baseman Brad Czech, which scored Hanowski. DH Jeff Thoma then singled to right field but Czech was thrown out at the plate on the play. The Brewers answered with two runs of their own in the top of the third inning to take a 2-1 lead. 

The game remained with that score until the bottom of the 7th when the Skis scored four times. With one out, Skis centerfielder Aaron Hennes started the rally with single up the middle off Brewers starting pitcher Chad Weiss. Nate Olson then reached on an error to put men at first and second with one out. Jon Czech came to the plate and produced a RBI single to right center, scoring Hennes and moving Olson to third.  Randall draftee Jason King, who was catching in the game, then delivered the big blow with a 3-run homerun to left-center giving the Skis a 5-2 lead that they would hold on to until the end. 

Simon Waltman threw 8 1/3 excellent innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out six Brewer batters.  Nate Olson came on to relieve Waltman in the 9th with one out and one on and struck out the final two hitters to earn the save.

The Skis jumped out to an early lead in this Region 8C winner's bracket game. Skis centerfielder Aaron Hennes led off the first single with a single to deep short. He was followed by Nate Olson, who beat out an infield hit. Skis first baseman Jon Czech then singled through the right side to bring home Hennes and move Olson to third base. Jason King then hit a sac fly to left to bring home Olson and give the Skis a 2-0 lead. 

Buckman cut the lead to 2-1 in the third on an RBI single over the third base bag by Scott Geiger. Todd Robinson scored from second base on the play. The Skis added an insurance run in the eighth with a bases loaded walk to right fielder Beau Hanowski pushing the lead to 3-1. Buckman brought the go-ahead run to the plate in the ninth, but King was able to get a strikeout to end the game.  

Skis starter Jason King threw a complete game, allowing one earned run while striking out six Billygoat batters.

Skis starter Simon Waltman went eight strong innings to lead the Skis past the Lakers in a Region 8C first round game. The Skis scored in the first inning on a RBI single by Randall Cub draftee Jason King. They held that 1-0 lead until the third inning when Laker shortstop Ryan Marek led off with a single. He was followed by Gary Deters, who hit a 2-run home run to left field to give the Lakers a 2-1 lead. 

The Skis fought back to grab the lead in the fifth off Laker starting pitcher Troy Wunderlich. With two outs in the inning and runners on first and second, Skis left fielder Joe Thoma singled home Aaron Hennes to tie the game at 2-2. The Skis then pulled a double steal with Jason King scoring the go-ahead run. An insurance run was added in the eighth on a 2-out Craig Kern pinch hit RBI single. Simon Waltman earned the win on the mound for the Skis, striking out five in the contest.

Nate Olson worked a scoreless ninth for the Skis earning the save. Troy Wunderlich took the loss for Avon, tossing eight solid innings while striking out thirteen.

The Skis jumped out early in the Western Division Playoff Championship by scoring 4 first inning runs, all on two out hits. With the bases loaded in the first and two outs, Skis right fielder Beau Hanowski came through with a 2-run double. Both Lonny Hutchins and Jeff Thoma followed with run scoring singles in the inning. The Blue Jays answered with 2 runs in the top of the 3rd, cutting the Skis lead to 4-2. In the bottom of the 3rd the Skis broke the game open with 6 runs. Third baseman Brad Czech led off the inning with a double to left, followed by another run scoring double by Hanowski. The Skis then added 4 more run scoring singles in the inning to push the lead to 10-2 after 3 innings. Skis starter Simon Waltman went 5 innings, striking out 2 and walking 4. Nate Olson worked 2 scoreless innings in relief for the Skis.

Both teams are in action next Saturday in the opening round of the Region 8C playoffs. The Upsala Blue Jays (West #2 seed) take on the Saint Stephen Steves (South #1 seed) at 5:30 at Pierz Legion Field, followed by the Sobieski Skis (West #1 seed) taking on the Avon Lakers (South #2 seed) at approximately 8:00.

The Skis once again jumped out to an early lead, this time plating 3 first inning runs coming on a RBI groundout by third baseman Brad Czech and a 2-run single to center field by Beau Hanowski. The Cubs answered right back, scoring one in the 2nd on a solo homerun to left field by Josh Burgardt, and then 3 more in the 3rd to take a 4-3 lead. The lead then turned back to the Skis favor in the 4th. Skis catcher Jeff Thoma led off the inning with a single, followed by a double to the right center gap by shortstop Jake Kluver. Aaron Hennes then doubled both of them home on a shot to the left center gap. With still no one out in the inning, Nate Olson was then hit by a pitch, Jon Czech was walked, Joe Thoma had an RBI single and Brad Czech had a sac fly to right to finish the scoring in the inning. Skis winning pitcher Nate Olson went the distance, allowing 11 Randall hits and 5 earned runs while striking out 2.

The Skis broke the game open early with an 11 run 3rd inning. Jon Czech hit a grand slam to right field for his 7th home run of the season with one out in the inning. Later in the inning the Skis got RBI singles from right fielder Beau Hanowski, center fielder Aaron Hennes, and shortstop Nate Olson. All in all, the Skis had 9 hits in the inning while sending 15 men to the plate. Skis starting pitcher Simon Waltman threw all eight innings for the win, striking out 11 while allowing 3 earned runs on 8 Riverdog hits.

The winner of this game determined the Victory League Western Division Regular Season Champion and was awarded a berth in the upcoming Region 8C Tournament. Both teams entered the game with 9-3 records in league play.  For the second day in a row the Skis got out to an early lead. With 2 on and 2 out in the first inning Skis third baseman Brad Czech hit a homerun to left center to give the Skis a 3-0 lead. The Skis scored 1 run in the 4th on an RBI single by DH Lonny Hutchins, and added one more in the 7th on a pinch hit homerun to left center by Craig Kern. In the 8th the Blue Jays answered with two runs of their own to cut the lead to 5-2. In the top of the ninth the Blue Jays loaded the bases with on out, bringing the go-ahead run to the plate, but Skis starter Simon Waltman was able to get a ground out and a line out to end the game. Waltman allowed 5 hits and struck out 5 in the contest.

The Skis got out to an early lead off Cubs starter Jason King by getting 5 hits and plating 4 runs in the first inning. With one out in the first Skis first baseman Jon Czech doubled home Nate Olson. That was followed by a 2-out single by third baseman Brad Czech, a run scoring double by right fielder Beau Hanowski and a 2-run single by Simon Waltman. The Skis scored another run in the 2nd inning to push the lead to 5-0. Skis starter Nate Olson went the distance on the mound, allowing 4 Randall hits while striking out 10. In his last 2 outings, Skis pitcher Nate Olson has allowed 0 earned runs while striking out 27 in 19 innings of work.

The Falcons scored 4 unearned runs in the 3rd inning to take an early 4-2 lead. Jon Czech led off the bottom of the 4th inning with his 6th home run of the season. Joe Thoma then led off the bottom of the 6th with a solo shot to left to tie the game at 4-4. The game remained scoreless from then on until the bottom of the 10th when Skis left fielder Beau Hanowski singled in Jon Czech with the game winning run. Jon Czech finished 3-5 on the day at the plate and Beau Hanowski was 3-4. Brad Czech also added two hits.  Skis starter Nate Olson went the distance, striking out 17 in the 10 inning victory.

The Devils broke the game open with 3 runs in the top of the 8th inning.  Nate Olson and Aaron Hennes had two hits a piece for the Skis. All 6 Saint Mathias runs were scored with two outs in the game. Adam Hardy got the win on the mound, with Travis Dixon pitching two innings to earn the save.  Saint Mathias clinched with Victory League North regular season title with the win.

Game three of the tourney was a shootout with the Clarissa Flyers. The Skis jumped out with 4 runs in the first, including a two run homer by clean-up hitter Joe Thoma and a solo shot by DH Craig Kern. Skis first baseman Jon Czech added his second home run of the tourney in the 3rd, this one being a run line shot over the right field fence to raise the Skis lead to 6-1. The Flyers answered with a 4 runs of their own. With two runners on and two outs, Flyer right fielder Brian Hinzmann sent a pitch over the left field fence to cut the Skis lead to 6-5. In the bottom of the 4th the Flyers took an 8-6 lead on another two out 3 run home run by Lieser. The Skis took the lead for good in the top of the 6th. Skis DH Craig Kern blasted his second home run of the game to left center to lead off the inning. It was followed by a single to left by right fielder Lonny Hutchins and another home run by Skis catcher Jeff Thoma. Both starters, Brad Czech for the Skis and Joe Cuchna for the Flyers, went the distance.

The Rocks jumped out early in game two of the tourney on, scoring 3 runs in the first off Skis starter Nate Olson. Olson went the distance for the Skis, striking out nine. Jon Czech added a 2 run home run in the sixth for the Skis.

The Skis were paced at the plate in the opening game of the tourney by Nate Olson who was 2-3 at the plate with 3 RBI. Skis centerfielder Aaron Hennes added two hits and scored twice for the Skis. Titan second baseman Brady Lesler hit a 3 run home run in the 5th to tighten the game to 6-4 but the Skis, behind the complete game by starter Simon Waltman, were able to hold on for the win.

Jon Czech was 3-4 on the day with a double and RBI.  Simon Waltman was 2-3 for the Skis as they dropped the 3rd place game to Raymond. The Skis rallied in the 7th, loading the bases with no one out for Jon Czech, but Czech hit a one hop shot up the middle that was snared by Rocket pitcher Ron Hoekstra who then threw home starting a 1-2-3 double play. Jake Kluver also added two hits for the Skis.

Game two of the Hamburg Tourney was a classic pitchers duel with Skis starter Nate Olson locking horns with Diamond Devils starter Adam Gregg.  Olson went nine innings on the hill, allowing six hits, while striking out four and walking none. Gregg also threw nine scoreless innings, allowing four Skis hits while striking out five and walking one. Both pitchers were lifted for relievers to start the 10th. The Devils plated the winning run on a one out single to left in the bottom of the 10th by Dan Boisclair. Skis centerfielder Aaron Hennes was 3-5 at the plate on the day, including a double and stolen base.

Skis third baseman Jon Czech hit a 2-run home run in the 6th inning over the 375 sign in right center to expand the Skis lead to 8-2.  Skis pitcher Simon Waltman went the distance, while scattering five New Germany hits and striking out six.

Sobieski jumped out with 3 runs in the first on five consecutive hits by the middle of the order. The game was blown open in the 5th with the Skis scoring 4 times. They added four more in the 6th and 5 more in the 7th.  All 12 Skis who appeared in the game had at least one hit, including a season high 9 doubles by the team. Nate Olson went all 7 innings on the mound to get the win, allowing 3 earned runs while striking out 5 batters.

Randall jumped out on the Skis with 4 runs in the first and 2 more in the second to take a 6-1 lead. The Skis answered with two runs of their own in the third to cut the lead to 6-3 on a run scoring single by left fielder Joe Thoma and a sacrifice fly by Brad Czech. The Cubs opened the game back up in the top of the 4th on a two run double to left by first baseman Jason Karnowski. Six costly errors hurt the Skis in the western division match up.

The Skis won another western division match up against the Upsala Blue Jays on Memorial Day. Starter Simon Waltman got the win on the mound, going 7 2/3 innings before giving way to reliever Nate Olson, who earned the save while pitching 1 1/3 innings of relief. The Blue Jays jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the second inning. The Skis were able to take the lead back in the top of the 4th on third baseman Jon Czech's 3 run homerun to left field. The Skis opened up a 8-3 lead in the 8th, but the Blue Jays answered with 3 runs to tighten the game to 8-6. Nate Olson recorded a strikeout to end the game with the tying run at the plate for the Blue Jays.  With the win the Skis move into first place in the West.

The Skis finally broke out the lumber and pounded out 16 hits and scored 19 runs in the Victory League Western division match up. The Falcons jumped out to an early 3-1 lead after the first, but in the top of the 4th with two men on, Skis centerfielder Aaron Hennes hit a 2-2 offering for a homerun to left field off Falcons starter Paul Krebs. It gave the Skis a 6-5 lead, one they would never give up. Lonny Hutchins helped spark the offense with a 4-4 day at the plate and Skis outfielder Beau Hanowski had an excellent day at the plate, going 3-3 with 3 RBI.

Behind another strong pitching performance by Skis right-hander Simon Waltman, the Skis were able to beat the Riverdogs in the first game of the double header. Waltman went 7 innings, fanning 6 and allowing one unearned run. Key moments in the game were 2-out run scoring singles by Nate Olson in the 5th to tie the game and Simon Waltman in the 6th to take the lead. Matt Gohl took the loss for the Riverdogs.

In game 2 of the doubleheader, the Skis broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the 5th and 3 runs in the 6th. Russ Klimmek came up with a clutch 2 out single in the 5th to plate the go-ahead run. In the 6th the Skis scored 3 times to break the game open. Craig Kern laced a double to left-center to start the inning. Joe Thoma followed later in the inning with a big 2-out single to right to score 2 runs and give the Skis a 5-1 lead. Nate Olson got the win on the mound, going 5 strong innings, fanning 8 Royalton batters. Brad Czech earned the save, coming on with 2 on and nobody out in the 6th, and inducing a 6-4-3 double play ball. Royalton scored a lone run in the 6th but that was all they could muster. Pete Gleisner took the loss on the hill for Royalton.

Behind a strong pitching performance by Skis starting pitcher Simon Waltman the Skis were able to pull out a 1-0 10 inning victory over the Brainerd Braves. Both Waltman and Braves starter Brandon Owen held the offenses in check through the first 9 innings, until the 10th when they were both lifted for relievers. Nate Olson came on to pitch a scoreless top of the 10th for the Skis and ended up getting the win in relief. Skis right fielder Lonny Hutchins led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a walk off Braves reliever Beau Mertens, which was followed by singles from Skis centerfielder Aaron Hennes and Nate Olson. With the bases loaded and a 2-2 count, Skis first baseman Isaac Smieja was hit by pitch which allowed the game winning run to score.
