The Randall Cubs made an incredible five run rally in the bottom of the ninth to stun and eliminate the defending Region 8C Champion Sobieski Skis Saturday in Buckman.

The Skis bats came alive early in the game, as they used five hits to knock in
three runs in the first inning.  They plated two more in the second inning and chased Randall starting pitcher Jason King after Brad Czech's leadoff double to center to lead off the third inning.  Matt Swanson (draftee from the Upsala Blue Jays) threw well from then on.  He allowed a single run in the fourth on Nate Olson's double off the left field wall, and a two run homer to left by Skis left fielder Joe Thoma in the seventh.  Swanson struck out twelve in his seven innings of relief.  Sobieski carried an 8-4 lead into the bottom of the ninth when the Cubs rallied.

Skis draftee Jamie Leners took over for starter Simon waltman to start the inning.  Lead off hitter Ricky Drew got the inning going by working out a walk.  Kevin Knopik and Brian Hanson followed with base hits to load the bases.  Jason Karnowski then doubled in two runs cutting the Skis lead in half at 8-6.  Beau Hanowski then relieved Leners on the mound.  The Cubs then drew three walks in a row.  Nick Prozinski walked to reload the bases, Matt Martin walked driving in a run to make it 8-7, and Chad Stadum walked to tie the game 8-8.  With the bases loaded and still no outs, Matt Swanson drilled the game winning single to center field.

The Skis and Lakers battled in an intense elimination game on the second day of the Region 8C Tourney.  John Fuchs, draftee form the Upsala Blue Jays, started for the Skis and the Lakers gave the ball to Scott Geiger, draftee from the Buckman Billygoats.  The Lakers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when first baseman Tim Lease singled home catcher Dave Woitalla, another draftee from the Buckman Billygoats..

The score remained unchanged until the bottom of the fifth when the Skis scored three times.  With the bases loaded and two outs, Joe Thoma hit a chopper to first that bounced off the shoulder of the Lakers first baseman and deflected towards right field.  The ball was retrieved and an errant throw to first ended up in the Laker dugout, allowing three runs to score on the play.

The Skis held a 3-1 lead until the bottom of the ninth when the Lakers mounted a rally.  Lastrup used two hits and a walk to cut the Skis lead to 3-2 and had the game winning run on in scoring position when Fuchs induced a ground ball to shortstop Jake Kluver to end the rally and secure the victory for the Skis.

Lastrup pitcher Scott Geiger went the distance on the mound, taking the hard luck loss after throwing 2 2/3 innings of relief on Saturday for the Lakers.  Geiger threw an amazing 218 pitches over two days of work on the hill for the Lakers.  Skis starter John Fuchs did an excellent job of keeping the potent Laker lineup off balance.  He went the distance in the win allowing five hits and striking out four.

The Skis jumped out on the Devils in the first inning when Skis second baseman Brad Czech doubled to deep center with two outs and runners on first and third to give the Skis a 2-0 lead.  The lead didn't last long though as the Devils kept pressure on the Skis, plating five runs over the next six innings to take a 5-2 lead.

In the sixth inning the Skis began their comeback. Beau Hanowski walked to lead off the inning and scored when Brad Czech hit a two-out double to the gap in right center field.  The Skis scored in the seventh on a sacrifice fly to right field from center fielder Aaron Hennes.  Skis catcher Jeff Thoma came up big in the bottom of the eighth when he cracked a two out single to right center to tie the game 5-5.

The game remained tied until the eleventh inning.  In the top half of the inning, Joey Tautges led off with a double for the Devils.  He was bunted to third base and then scored on a sacrifice fly to center to by pitcher Dan Rocheleau, draftee from Harding, to plate the game winning run.

Skis starting pitcher Simon Waltman threw well, allowing four earned runs over his eleven innings of work.  Dan Rocheleau earned the win for the Devils.  He allowed seven hits while striking out three in the eleven inning complete game victory.

The Skis received a strong performance on the mound from starting pitcher Simon Waltman in the Victory League West Division Championship game.  The Skis were lead offensively by right fielder Beau Hanowski who went 3-4 on the day including four RBI, three runs scored, and two stolen bases.  Leadoff hitter Aaron Hennes scored three runs and had also two stolen bases on the day.  Waltman threw a complete game for the Skis, allowing seven hits and striking out four.

The Cubs took a 1-0 lead in the first, but the Skis fired right back with two runs of their own in the Victory League Western Division playoff winner's bracket game.  Beau Hanowski started things for the Skis in the first inning with a one out single.  Nate Olson followed that at-bat with a double.  Jon Czech then singled and Joe Thoma had a sac fly to give the Skis a 2-1 lead. Randall tied the game in the top of the second on a sac fly by catcher Kevin Knopik.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Skis regained the lead on a two run home run to right center by Jon Czech.  It was his second home run of the weekend and it pushed his total to eight home runs on the season. The Skis held the 4-2 lead until the top of the sixth when the Cubs erupted for five runs on five hits and a walk to make the score 7-4, Cubs.

That score held until the bottom of the eighth when the Skis mounted a furious comeback.  The Skis loaded the bases with no outs when lead off batter Simon Waltman was hit by a pitch, shortstop Jake Kluver doubled off the left field wall, and centerfielder Aaron Hennes followed Kluver with a walk.  Beau Hanowski got the scoring started by bringing home Waltman on a sacrifice fly, cutting the Cubs lead to 7-5.  Nate Olson then walked to load the bases again, this time with one out.  Jon Czech stepped to the plate and brought in two runs with a hit to right field, tying the game 7-7.  

With a tie game and still only one out, Joe Thoma dug in for the Skis with runners at first and third.  He blasted a three run home run to left-center to give the Skis a 10-7 lead, and the eventual winning runs.  Later in the inning, catcher Jeff Thoma walked and was doubled home by Waltman to bump up the Skis cushion and end the scoring for the day.  The Skis sent ten men to the plate in the seven run inning.

Skis pitcher Beau Hanowski was excellent in relief or starter Simon Waltman, earning the win, e allowing no runs, striking out two, and giving up just one hit in 3 2/3 innings of work.

The Skis were lead at the plate in the first round Victory League Western Division playoff game by Nate Olson, who went 2-2 with two walks and two RBI and Jon Czech who was 1-2 with two walks and a three run home run.  Jake Kulver also collected three hits in the contest.  Brad Czech and Jeff Thoma hit back-to-back home runs to left field in the second inning to pace the Skis.  Skis centerfielder Aaron Hennes ended the game with a two run homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Skis a 12-1 victory.  Skis starting pitcher Brad Czech went the distance, while striking out three and allowing only one earned run.

The Skis jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the second inning, but the Cubs battled back and eventually won the western division match up.

With the Skis leading 3-0 in the top of the fourth, Matt Martin hit a bases clearing three run two out double to tie the game.  In the top of the fifth Ricky Drew hit a two run double to give the Cubs a 5-3 lead.  Left hander Kyle Peterschick earned the win in relief for the Cubs.

The Brewers outlasted the Skis in ten innings in the another well played, well pitched, ballgame.  Brewers starting pitcher Chad Weiss got the complete game victory while striking out nine.  Skis starter Nate Olson pitched very well as well going nine innings and striking out seven in the no decision.  Neither team had an error in the pitching battle.  The Skis were led at the plate by catcher Jeff Thoma who was 3-4 including a double.  Beau Hanowski went 2-4 with a stolen base, and Brad Czech was 2-4.

Skis starting pitcher Simon Waltman was very sharp in the seven inning complete game victory.  He struck out eight Bulldog batters while allowing no walks and only five hits.  The Skis had a big game offensively, led by designated hitter Lonny Hutchins who went 3-4 with a double, two runs scored, and five RBI.  First baseman Jon Czech was 2-5 with a double, home run, and two RBI.  Brad Czech was 2-3 at the plate with a run scored.  Right fielder Beau Hanowski was welcomed back into in the lineup going 3-5, including two RBI.  The Skis broke the game open with a six run third inning which extended the lead to 9-0.

Midway starting pitcher Zach Etter out-dueled Skis starter Nate Olson in the final game of the tournament.  Etter struck out eleven, while allowing only two Skis hits.  Olson struck out eight in his six innings of work in the contest.  The Snurdbirds took the lead for good in the sixth on RBI singles by Jake Lund and Jeff Marjama.

Sauk Centre won the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on a walk-off home run to right field by shortstop Dustin Meyer.  Starting pitcher Jon Czech went five solid innings for the Skis, allowing only two hits, and striking out three.  Czech hit a two-run home run in the fourth for the Skis.  Catcher Jeff Thoma was also 2-3 at the plate for the Skis.

The Skis rallied to score five runs on seven hits in the top of the seventh inning to beat the Clarissa Flyers in the first game of the 2007 Skis Tourney.

Trailing 3-1 entering the seventh, the Skis received a lead off double by DH Craig Kern. That was followed by singles from Jeff Thoma and Simon Waltman.
  Aaron Hennes then singled home Thoma to tie the game with one out. The Hennes RBI single was followed by a double down the right field line by Jake Kluver, who then scored on Nate Olson's single.  Jon Czech then singled to plate the Skis sixth run.  

Skis starting pitcher Simon Waltman went the distance, striking out 4 and allowing 3 runs, all being unearned.

The Skis scored four runs on the first inning and never looked back in the consolation championship game against the Eden Prairie Eagles.  Jon Czech blasted two home runs in the contest, and finished with three RBI and three runs scored.  Aaron Hennes stayed hot for the Skis going 4-5, and scoring three runs.  Left fielder Joe Thoma was 2-3 with a triple, RBI, and two runs scored.  Skis starter Nate Olson looked sharp on the mound.

The Skis plated four runs in the first inning and starting pitcher Simon Waltman made that hold up.  He allowed one earned run in the contest, while striking out four.  The Skis were led at the plate by centerfielder Aaron Hennes again, who finished 2-4 with a run scored.  Shortstop Jake Kluver was also 2-4 with a run.

Carver starting pitcher Ross Tichy held the Skis in check in the first round game of the Hamburg Coors Classic.  The Skis didn't help themselves out by leaving twelve  runners stranded in the contest.  The game was broken open in the sixth inning on a two out three run double by Carver centerfielder Kevin Kimmes.  For the Skis, centerfielder Aaron Hennes was 4-4 at the plate while starter Brad Czech took the loss.

The Skis won their second Victory League Western division match up with the Riverdogs to sweep the season series. 

Jon Czech tripled home Nate Olson in the first inning to get the Skis on the board.  Skis designated hitter Logan Kalis then gave them a 3-0 lead when he hit a two run homer to field field in the second.  In the third inning they received an RBI single by left fielder Joe Thoma, and a two run single by starting pitcher Brad Czech pushing the lead to 6-0. 

Trailing 7-0 in the 6th, the Riverdogs rallied behind a RBI double by first baseman Adam Yourczek, and a two run double by left fielder Mike Wenner.  The Riverdogs then tied the game in the eighth, using five hits to push across four runs. 

With the game tied 8-8 in the top of the ninth, Brad Czech singled to lead off the inning for the Skis.  He advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Lonny Hutchins, and was brought home on a one out single to right field by catcher Jeff Thoma giving the Skis the a won run lead.  

Nate Olson retired the Riverdogs in order in the ninth to secure the victory.  Skis starting pitcher Brad Czech went seven innings, allowed four earned runs, struck out eight, and walked just one.

The Skis won this Victory League Western division match up with the Blue Jays and the season series.  

Starting pitcher Simon Waltman had a very good outing, throwing a complete game, allowing only one unearned run, striking out eight batters, and walking none.  The Skis scored first when Joe Thoma brought home shortstop Nate Olson with a single in the fourth inning.  

The Blue Jays rallied to tie the game in the seventh inning when Matt Swanson singled home Adam Gerads.  The Skis then took the lead for good an inning and a half later in the bottom of the eighth, when right fielder Lonny Hutchins singled home Nate Olson with the go-ahead run with two outs. 

Waltman retired the Blue Jays in order in the ninth to secure the victory.

The Skis jumped out in front against Buckman with 7 runs in the first inning and never looked back.  They pounded out 25 hits and scored 29 runs in the first 5 innings of play. 

Sobieski was led at the plate by catcher Jeff Thoma, whose 3-3 day included a 3-run home run to left-center in the second, and a 3-run home run to left field in the third.  Thoma scored three runs and had seven runs batted in on the day.  First baseman Jon Czech also had a big day.  Czech went  4-5 with two home runs, four runs batted in, and five runs scored.  Skis right fielder Lonny Hutchins was 3-4 with a 3-run home run in the third.  He also scored 5 runs on the day.  Skis youngster Logan Kalis got the win in relief after relieving Simon Waltman in the third.  Waltman started the game and pitched two innings, leaving with a 12-1 lead.  Kalis pitched the remaining four innings, struck out three and allowed two earned runs.

The Lakers came out on top in this wild one between the division leaders of the Victory League East and West.  

Rick Schlieman hit a 3-run home run in the top of the first to give the Lakers the lead. The Skis answered with two of their own in the bottom of the second on a 2-run single by second baseman Brad Czech.  The Lakers held a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth when the Skis scored a run to cut the lead to 5-3. With two outs and runners on second and third the Lakers intentionally walked Skis first baseman Jon Czech.  Joe Thoma, the next batter, then stepped up to the plate and hit a grand slam to left field giving the Skis a 7-5 lead. 

The Lakers fought back in the seventh and took the lead back at 8-7. That lead stood until the bottom of the ninth.  With one out Jeff Thoma cracked a double prompting Laker starting pitcher Dan Saehr to be replaced by Reggie Litke.  Aaron Hennes greeted Litke with a sharp single to right to tie the game 8-8.  In the top of the eleventh, the Lakers put up three runs off Skis reliever Jake Kluver to once again take the lead.  The drama wasn't over there though.  In the bottom of the eleventh the Skis mounted a furious rally scoring two runs on two Laker errors and having the bases loaded with two outs.  The rally was cut short when Litke induced a ground ball to the shortstop from the next batter to end the game.

The Skis got got a complete game victory from starting pitcher Brad Czech.  He limited the Falcons to 6 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 3 and walking none.

The Skis won the western division match up with the Randall Cubs in dramatic fashion. The Cubs held a 3-1 advantage heading to the top of the 9th when Brad Czech led off with a double against Cubs starter Jason King. With one out Czech was doubled home by left fielder Matt Grein. Grein was then singled home to tie the game on a two-out, two-strike pitch by catcher Jeff Thoma. 

In the bottom of the 9th, Bobby Sanders singled for the Cubs, then stole second. With two out Jason Peterschick singled through the left side of the infield, but Sanders was thrown out at the plate by left fielder Matt Grein, sending the game to extra innings. 

Jake Kluver led off the top of the 10th inning for the Skis with a single up the middle. He then stole second, was bunted to third by Nate Olson, and came home on a sac fly to center by Joe Thoma.  Nate Olson was outstanding on the hill for the Skis.  He threw 9
1/3 innings of scoreless relief, coming in for starting pitcher Simon Waltman.  Olson struck out 6 and walked none in the victory. 

Jason King went 9 strong innings for the Cubs, allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 8. Bobby Sanders took the loss with one inning of work for the Cubs. Hitting highlights for the Skis included Craig Kern 2-5 with a home run, Aaron Hennes was 2-4, Matt Grein was 1-1 with an RBI and run scored, and Brad Czech was 2-4 with a double and a run scored.

Skis starting pitcher Nate Olson had his perfect game bid broken up with two outs in the top of the 6th inning when a Flensburg batter reach on a fielding error. His no-hit bid was then broken up in the next inning when Casey Gwost singled to center over the outstretched arm of Skis shortstop Jake Kluver. Olson finished with 9 strikeouts in 7 innings of work while only allowing one earned run. Right fielder Beau Hanowski was 2-4 at the plate, including two runs scored and a RBI. Left fielder Joe Thoma continued his hot streak, going 2-4 with 2 RBI.

Starting pitcher Simon Waltman gave the Skis a strong outing in the Western divisional game. Waltman went 7 innings, striking out 4, and only allowing one unearned run against the Blue Jays. The Skis were paced at the plate by left fielder Joe Thoma, who was 3-5 on the day, including a double and a RBI. Jake Kluver also made an impact in his first game of the season by playing well at shortstop and going 2-3 with a walk.

Hitting highlights included Nate Olson going 3-5 at the plate with 4 runs scored including a double, RBI and stolen base. Jon Czech was 2-3 with 3 runs scored, Beau Hanowski was 2-5, Joe Thoma was 2-4 with a stolen base. The Skis played errorless defense behind the strong first outing of starting pitcher Simon Waltman, who threw 5 innings and struck out 5. Nate Olson pitched the final two innings of the contest, and struck out 5.
